My Dirtbike Piston Rings Gone?
Ive got a 4 stroke 450, Todai and started smoking and stalling. The interior of the pipe is colored black oil, so it is not only burning, as the liquid oil is coming through the pipe. I think it could be seals, piston rings more likely? Also, I was stuck in the amount of water 2 days ago, but I was not so "SUMTHING profound is this to do with it?
Drain the oil and see if there is water in it (will look milky). If so, this could be the cause of your problem. Change oil and filter, then start the bike and see if it continues smoking / post. If so, do a compression test - check your shop manual for the beach to look for. If compression is low, it is very likely or even rings bent valve. If water entered the engine during operation, can cause all sorts of questions - Water is much more difficult to compress air, water to the combustion chamber can break pistons, rods, valves, etc.
