Is it right for the mountain bike cross country?

I have 5 '11 "and 150 pounds. I'm looking to get into mountain biking, and I hope I can use this bike: Mine has a cadre''17, and was made in 1995. I found this page that has information about the bike: http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?Year=1995&Brand=Schwinn&Model=s% 5B9 +% 5D + five = 3 & Type I motorcycle Not sure if that's good, but this is what I can say about the bike to follow:''This is a semi-rigid T 17 with rim brakes, not a gable (Is this the correct term?) "Micro drive power flo-f" printed on the back to (???) Shimano Acera mockery has "printed on it when I was riding around town in it, I had some problems with jerky movement that / noise / etc Can someone tell me what to do to get you started to enter the mountain bike cross country? I'm taking a brake disc to start ....? oh yes, I have already this bike. I got it for $ 75 instead of bicycle used a few years ago.

To return to the forward movement of the district and use it. When it comes to updating cost more than the bike is worth. When you decide on your loan, buy a new bike, cheaper than updating this bike, newer technology and will be warranted.
