This could cause the wipers to fail intermittently?
'93 Chevy Silverado My sister has a problem with the windshield wipers. She said they do not work half the time it needs. They do not stop at halftime or something, they want to start. I've never seen this problem occur with my own eyes, making it difficult for me to solve problems. Every time I try, they work. Things I tried: Do they seem know how to activate the wipers. Replace the wiper switch on the steering column. Wipers Ran for 30 minutes while spraying the windshield with water. Checked the plug on the engine wipers - nothing wrong. Checked wiper motor for the strange sounds and heat - none. Note: A couple of months, when the problem started (before replacing the switch -wiper), said the smoke was coming from the steering column when she turned on the windshield. There was smoke then. When replacing wiper switch I do not see anything that looked like toast.
I would say that there is some exposed Son May that cause a short circuit while driving and things are hit around. Maybe its something you can not see very easily, but I would look for electrical naked son. Intermittent problems are the worst, I feel your pain.Good luck.
