Why after installing Windows XP Service Pack 2 that I had a black band on the side of the screen?

Recently I had to reinstall Windows and after service pack2 put back on my laptop which now have a black, compared to about 1.5 cm along the right side of my screen. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite Pro running Windows XP Professional, I looked for updated drivers but I can not find. a link to a website or instructions how to fix it would be much appreciated thanx. Learn tips really is not much help. I know this is a common problem, do not have to pay someone to fix it. Toshiba drivers for exchange. I can not change my screen size above 969 by 768 pixels at a swift solution would be much appreciated
